World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.
If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players make stronger versions of the equipment with less Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a significant risk that the item may become obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate chance of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to increase the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. upgrade item could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is highly valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state which means that the player has to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade requires a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
